Cookery Trove Privacy Policy

Cookery Trove is a cloud-based recipe and shopping-list service operated by Michelle Zaremskas in the United States.

This Privacy Policy explains how Cookery Trove collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Cookery Trove applications for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, associated support pages, and related services.

Cookery Trove is intended for users in the United States and is not intended for children under 14.

1. Information Cookery Trove collects

Account and profile information

When you create or use a Cookery Trove account, Cookery Trove may collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your username and display name
  • Your Firebase account identifier
  • Your profile image and biography, if you provide them
  • Whether your email address has been verified
  • Account, access, and subscription status

Recipes and other content

Cookery Trove stores the content you create, import, upload, or organize through the service. This may include:

  • Recipes and recipe instructions
  • Ingredients and preparation information
  • Recipe images and image URLs
  • Source website URLs
  • Recipe boxes and organizational information
  • Shopping lists
  • Store-aisle mappings
  • Notes and other information you add
  • Sharing relationships and membership information

Cookery Trove does not make your recipes, recipe boxes, or shopping lists publicly discoverable.

Recipe imports

When you import a recipe from a website, Cookery Trove sends the recipe URL to its recipe-import service so the requested recipe information can be extracted.

Imported information may include the source page URL, recipe text, ingredients, instructions, and URLs for images provided by the source website. Image URLs associated with an imported recipe are stored for as long as that recipe remains in your account.

If an image is loaded directly from a source website, that website or its hosting provider may receive technical request information such as your IP address, request time, and device or browser information. The privacy practices of the source website are controlled by that website and not by Cookery Trove.

Subscription and transaction information

Apple processes subscription purchases for Cookery Trove. Cookery Trove may receive and retain information needed to verify and administer your subscription, including:

  • Product and subscription identifiers
  • Transaction identifiers
  • Original transaction identifiers
  • Purchase, renewal, expiration, refund, and revocation status
  • Trial or promotional eligibility information
  • Subscription-entitlement status

Cookery Trove does not receive your complete payment-card number. Payment information is processed by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

Push-notification information

If notifications are enabled, Cookery Trove may store a device push-notification token and related technical information needed to send notifications to your device.

A push token does not contain the content of your recipes or shopping lists, but it is associated with an application installation and may be associated with your account.

Crash and diagnostic information

Cookery Trove uses Firebase Crashlytics to identify and diagnose application failures. Crash and diagnostic information may include:

  • Application version and build number
  • Device model
  • Operating-system version
  • Crash time
  • Stack traces
  • Application state at the time of a failure
  • Technical identifiers associated with the application installation
  • Other diagnostic details needed to investigate a failure

Cookery Trove does not use Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics to collect information about how users interact with the application. Cookery Trove does not use personal information for behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, or user profiling.

Security and operational information

Cookery Trove and its service providers may process technical information needed to operate and protect the service, including:

  • IP address
  • Request date and time
  • Application and device information
  • Authentication activity
  • Firebase App Check or similar application-integrity information
  • Server, security, and error logs
  • Records of suspected abuse, unauthorized access, or attempted circumvention of service limits

Support communications

If you contact Cookery Trove, the service may retain your email address, the content of your request, diagnostic information you provide, and correspondence needed to investigate and resolve the matter.

2. How information is used

Cookery Trove uses information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and secure accounts
  • Synchronize recipes, recipe boxes, shopping lists, and preferences
  • Import recipes at your request
  • Store and display recipe images
  • Provide sharing and collaboration features
  • Send notifications you request or enable
  • Verify purchases and maintain subscription access
  • Enforce account, subscription, and resource limits
  • Restore access and assist with account recovery
  • Respond to support and privacy requests
  • Detect fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Diagnose crashes and service failures
  • Maintain backups and service reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes

Cookery Trove does not use private recipe content for public discovery.

Cookery Trove does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

3. Service providers

Cookery Trove relies on service providers to operate the application.

Firebase and Google Cloud

Firebase and Google Cloud may process information for:

  • Authentication
  • Database storage
  • File and image storage
  • Cloud functions
  • Push notifications
  • Application-integrity checks
  • Crash reporting
  • Logging
  • Backups
  • Security and operational monitoring

These providers process information according to their own contractual and privacy obligations.

Apple

Apple processes App Store distribution, subscription purchases, billing, subscription management, and related transaction activity.

Recipe-import infrastructure

Cookery Trove uses a separately operated recipe-import service to retrieve and extract recipe information from URLs submitted by users. The service may process submitted URLs, extracted recipe information, and ordinary server-request logs.

Other disclosures

Cookery Trove may disclose information:

  • When you direct the service to share content with another Cookery Trove user
  • To service providers acting on behalf of Cookery Trove
  • When reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unauthorized access
  • When required by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, and property of Cookery Trove, its users, or others
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate protection of the information

4. Sharing with other users

Content remains private unless you choose to share a supported recipe box, shopping list, or other resource with specific Cookery Trove users.

People you authorize may be able to view or modify shared content according to the permissions provided by the application. Removing a person's access prevents future access through Cookery Trove, but Cookery Trove cannot require that person to delete information they previously copied, exported, photographed, or otherwise retained.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to share personal information or other content belonging to someone else.

5. Data retention

Cookery Trove retains information only for as long as reasonably needed to operate and protect the service, provide recovery options, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

The general retention periods are:

  • Account and profile information: While your account remains active.
  • Recipes, images, recipe boxes, shopping lists, and related content: While your account remains active, subject to the recovery period described below.
  • Content after paid access ends: Up to 90 days to permit account or subscription recovery.
  • Live application data after account deletion: Deletion is initiated promptly and is generally completed within 30 days.
  • Backups: Deleted information may remain in protected backups until those backups are overwritten, generally for no more than 90 days.
  • Push-notification tokens: Until replaced, invalidated, notifications are disabled, or the associated account is deleted.
  • Crash reports and associated identifiers: Firebase Crashlytics generally retains this information for 90 days before beginning the process of removing it from live and backup systems.
  • Routine operational logs: Up to 90 days.
  • Security and abuse-prevention records: Up to 12 months, or longer when reasonably necessary to investigate an active incident.
  • Support communications: Up to two years after the support matter is closed.
  • Subscription-entitlement information: While needed to administer the subscription and its association with a Cookery Trove account.
  • Transaction, dispute, fraud-prevention, and accounting records: Up to seven years when reasonably needed for legal, accounting, subscription-verification, purchase-replay prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
  • Imported recipe source and image URLs: While the associated recipe remains stored.

Some information may be retained longer when required by law, needed to establish or defend legal claims, or necessary to investigate fraud or a security incident.

When information is retained after account deletion for one of these limited purposes, it is not used to provide ordinary application features.

6. Account deletion and subscription cancellation

You may request deletion using the account-deletion control in the Cookery Trove application.

Account deletion removes your Cookery Trove account and associated live application data, subject to the limited retention described in this policy. Deletion may also affect content shared with other users and may remove their access to resources that you own.

Deleting your Cookery Trove account does not cancel an active Apple subscription. You must separately manage or cancel the subscription through your Apple account.

Canceling a subscription also does not immediately delete your Cookery Trove account. Content may remain available during the paid-access period and the applicable 90-day recovery period unless you separately request account deletion.

7. Your choices and rights

You may be able to:

  • Review and update certain account information in the application
  • Delete individual recipes, images, recipe boxes, and shopping-list content
  • Remove access previously granted to another user
  • Disable notifications through your device settings
  • Manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple account
  • Request deletion of your Cookery Trove account
  • Ask for access to or correction of personal information associated with your account
  • Request a copy of information associated with your account, where reasonably available
  • Contact Cookery Trove with a privacy question or complaint

Cookery Trove may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Certain information may be retained when permitted or required by law, including transaction, security, fraud-prevention, and dispute records.

8. Security

Cookery Trove uses administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect personal information. These include authenticated access, provider security controls, application-integrity checks, restricted cloud resources, and monitoring intended to detect failures or abuse.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for notifying Cookery Trove if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

9. Processing location

Cookery Trove is operated from Florida, United States. Information may be processed in the United States and in other locations where Firebase, Google Cloud, Apple, and other service providers maintain infrastructure or personnel.

Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.

10. Children's privacy

Cookery Trove is not intended for children under 14, and Cookery Trove does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14.

Cookery Trove does not currently claim to independently verify every user's age. If you believe that a child under 14 has created an account or provided personal information, contact privacy@cookerytrove.com. Cookery Trove will investigate and delete the information where appropriate.

11. Third-party websites and content

Recipes imported into Cookery Trove may originate from third-party websites. Cookery Trove may also contain links to external websites, Apple subscription-management pages, or support resources.

Cookery Trove does not control the privacy, security, availability, or content practices of third-party websites. Review the privacy policies of those services before providing information to them.

12. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as Cookery Trove changes or as legal and operational requirements evolve.

Material changes will be published on the Cookery Trove privacy page and reflected in App Store disclosures where required. The effective date at the top of this policy identifies the latest revision.

Continued use of the service after a policy update does not eliminate any consent or notice rights that applicable law may provide.
