Shopping Lists

Shopping lists are organized by store and shown in aisle order when an aisle mapping is available.

Create a List

  1. Open Shopping List.
  2. Open the Shopping List menu.
  3. Choose Add a Shopping List.
  4. Enter a list name.
  5. Select a store template when one is available.
  6. Choose Add.

A template seeds the new list with category-to-aisle mappings. You can refine those mappings later without changing the template.

Switch Lists

Use the list selector beneath the Shopping List app bar. The selected list becomes the active list and its items are displayed.

Add an Item

Use the add button on the Shopping List screen.

  • Start typing to find a previously saved item for the active list.
  • Select a suggestion to add it with its saved category and aisle mapping.
  • Use the scanner button to scan a UPC when supported by the device.
  • Use New to add an item that is not yet in the suggestions.

New items begin as Unassigned. Open the item details to set quantity, measurement, category, and aisle information.

You can also open a recipe and use its shopping-cart action to review and add supported ingredients to an existing list. See Managing Recipes for scaling, selection, and manual-entry limitations.

Shop the List

Items to buy are grouped by aisle and category. Select an item checkbox when it is in your cart. Checked items move to the cart section below the list.

Use Checkout only when you are ready to remove all checked items from the active list. Checkout removes those checked items; it does not undo the action.

Edit an Item

Select the arrow beside an item to open its details. You can update quantity, measurement, and the category or aisle mapping used for that item.

Current Limitation

The visible list-sharing entry is not yet a complete invitation and collaboration workflow. Do not rely on it for household list sharing yet.
